FIFA Update on the Laws of the Game

Important information for all referees: FIFA has updated the laws of the games with new wording and interpretation. Please view the  Laws of the Game

BISA Referees are Working Hard for You

The Burleson Independant Soccer Association works hard to develop our referees. They attend regular meetings throughout the season.  These meetings provide a forum for training and to discuss situations that they experience during a game and how they should respond.  Our association has several young referees that are just beginning referee development.  This provides them an opportunity to learn many skills that will translate off the field like punctuality, responsibility, communication and how to deal with conflict.

Referee Uniforms

The program directors of the state referee committee issue these comments regarding the new style and color referee uniform.

There is NO NEED to purchase the new style or color unless you are a national or state referee who works professional matches. New referees should buy the new style, as the old style will eventually be phased out. Present referees should buy the new uniform when they are replacing or adding to their current stock of uniforms. We anticipate that USSF will give a few years’ notice on phasing out the old styles.

The primary uniform will still include the yellow shirt with black stripes, and the same alternate colors are available: black, red and blue. A new alternate, green, is also approved.

It is approved and expected that a mixture of old and new styles will be used over the next few years. As before, all three members of a 3-referee crew should wear the same color; they will not be expected to wear the same style, old or new.
